Trams

  • Tramcar operation began 1871 with horse trams between Boar Lane and The Oak Inn, Headingley, on 16 Sep. Horse trams ended 13 Oct 1901.
  • Steam trains ran between 17 June 1880 and 1 April 1902 (Wortley route).
  • 1st electric tram in Leeds: 11 Nov 1891. Power station built 1892 and taken over by corporation in 1898 (Roundhay route).
