Death certificates

  • INFORMATION INCLUDED ON CERTIFICATE:
  • Full name
  • Date of death
  • Place of death
  • Given age (not guaranteed correct)
  • Cause(s) of death
  • Occupation (or name & occupation of husband if deceased was married or widowed woman)
  • Name, address & family relationship (if any) of person reporting the death
  • From 1969: Date & place of birth, usual address at death, maiden name (if married/widowed woman)
  • Obtained from register office where death registered (for a fee). Office will require name and quarter when death registered.
  • Or from General Records Office (Southport) who will also require Vol. & Page number from deathsindex (see GRO for contact details).
